Question: what's the best power setup for the Alitalia Cap? Is a ZDZ 40 too little... is the DA 50 too much? What are your experiences - from power to balance/CG issues? I haven't seen too many opinions on power choices for this plane so far.

I kindly thank you in advance,
Scott

Mine had a DA50 in it. Too much???? No way!!!! I could pull out of tail slides WITH authority. I used a Mejzlik 23X10 prop. Mine was a little over 15 1/2 lbs. CG was easy to achieve w/o lead. I dont know about the Fugi but the DA was great.

A G-45 is a good choice if you don't want to do torque rolls - that is its only limitation (well, other than weight!)...

I second the G45. It actually will torque roll well, It just doesn't really accelerate out of them. Harriers, though, they are GREAT! That's more the plane then the engine, though......

I *was* going to use a ZDZ 40 on mine. Thinking about a ZDZ 60...

zdz 60

zdz 60 it pulls the heck out this airplane. Balances good, just have to put the battery pack towards the back.

Fuji

I just got the fuji 50 for mine. One problem the from the back plate to the flange it is 6.9 inches which makes it stick out the cowl 1inch plus they have the shorter shaft which is 10mm shorter for 59.00 dollars and if you want to use a spinner the nut is 38.00 dollars. I still will have to cut the fire wall out and move it back at least 1/2 inch or so to make this engine fit so beware
engine 379
shaft 59
bolt 38
total deal 476.00 plus all modes to make it fit is the price worth it
