Best Trainer
 

I recommend the Easy Star or the Easy Glider Electric. Like said Moris Beracha in the Eagles Club, easy to fly, easy to repair, and easy to enjoy!
Any one here with the same opinion?

I learned on an Avistar and still love the way they fly. Great beater plane for the super windy days or dirt roads and stuff.

The latest edition of Model Airplane News lists several trainers it recommends. I learned on an Avistar, it's a great trainer and very reasonable. I do some instructing of new pilots for our club now and bottom line, most high wing trainers are pretty good.

I also learned on an Avistar. The real advantage of this plane is that you can still have a lot more fun with it than most trainers after you have learned. I also still fly mine. It is a tad harder to start on but if you are on a buddy box (the best way to learn) it is not an issue. I went from the Avistar to a Super Sportster and didn't have an issue with the speed of the much faster plane. I think the Avistar really prepared me better for the transition to faster low wing.

The ONLY issue I had with mine is the tail is weak right in front of the stabs. I had to strengthen the balsa there after a hard landing.

Learned and soloed on an Avistar four years ago and still fly it. With a 46 up front it can do a lot in the way of basic aerobatics. Mine would do more if I moved the CG back a bit but I really enjoy it the the way it is now. I`m not, however, sure that it`s the best first trainer for everyone, particularly with a 46. It can be REAL quick!
