Hanger 9 Easy 2 Trainer
After looking at quick-build trainers, I chose the H9 Easy2 for my friend to buy...Good looking plane and bolt-on assembly, so I am letting him do the construction for the experience. In checking his wing assembly I was not sure about the strength of this joint. Also, I can't find a review of this plane as to what I should expect, as I will test hop it and trim it for him before going with the buddy box. Didn't know if we need to epoxy the wing and pin the control surfaces, the things I do on my planes for reliability. The plane is well built as all the H9 models are that I've seen. Anyone out there got one can tell me about thses details?

I know R/C Report had a review of that plane....it has also been advised to epoxy the wing together.

Easy 2
If this is the Easy 2 model that uses the two metal rods for spars and then has a small rubber band to hold them together it is plenty strong. I flew many gallons thru mine with a TT 46 for power and it did fine- no wing problems until the tree limb reached out and smacked it.

Thanks for the diverse answers, guys. Fred, this is the exact wing you describe...saw the rubber bands. Good to know it has the strength. We really wanted to use it as it came, with him being a learner, if he broke one wing we could separate it and get a new left or right side. Did not want to expoxy if not necessary.
Flight characteristics? Any surprises? Shouldn't be real tricky. We are using an OS .40FP. George |
Easy 2
The wing is plenty strong with the way they have you use it. Had two of them with an FX .46. Here's an address to a reveiw. Sorry, forgot how to do it so you can just click on it. Great plane.

Easy 2
George I flew mine for a year and a half. I popped the firewall out on about my 6th solo flight. The firewall was a weak 3-ply and I put a good 1/4 or 3/16 firewall back in it with some tri-stock. The only other weakness was the main gear was very soft. I stretched some weedeater string across it just above the axles to keep it from bending so much. I used a TT 46 and a Saito 56 in it and sort of wish I still had it. One of the guys in my club bought it and flys it regularly during the summer.
