I have a Flip 3d for my funfly type flying. I had an Avistar with a clipped wing and pipe that I started with for my pattern flying and some realtively decent speed for fun. Well, that Avistar has bit the dust and I'm trying to decide what ARF to replace it with. I'm looking for suggestions - I don't need another aerobatic plane, but I want something with some decent speed as well. Will an Ultra Stick 40 satisfy that? Is it too much funfly - what do you recommend?

Thanks,
Dan

I think the Ultrastick would be a great choice for what you described. Even with it's thicker airfoil it can still scoot with a good prop / engine combo. Our club chose the Ultrastick as our club contest plane, and we've had pylon contests where the Ultrastick surprised a few members.

I sure wish this crappy weather would break.

Thanks - what motor for the Ultra? Will a 46 FX work okay?

us 40

hi,
i`ve got a us 40 with a thunder tiger pro 40 & a macs pipe.
can u say unlimited vertical ? it seems real fast to me but i`m still on a trainer. i have a pbf that i`m getting good with but i think the us is a little above me yet. it almost got away from me once but i recovered & i made my first landing ever with it. i haven`t flown it since. i love that plane , it`s my baby!

Well, if our contest rules allowed it, I'd have an OS .50SX on mine or an Irvine .53, but the required .46FX pulls em' around just fine.

If you like fast scale and want to save money, get the Model Tech Extra .30 and out your .45 in it. I'm finishing one with that setup. It should go like a quickie 400, hover, etc. Price for ARF is $79 from Sheldon's online.
