Seagull AT-6
Im at bit confused, this models Wing span is 74ins. Approx flying weight - 8.4-9.9lbs (3.8-4.5kg)
And they want me to put a 90-120 2-stroke i it...isnt that a bit overpowered? i want 4-stroke in it. os 70? anybody tested this one? Link to the plane: http://www.jperkinsdistribution.co.u...%20-%20Seagull Thomas. |
RE: Seagull AT-6
It does seem a bit much to me. I am thinking that they mean 90-120 4 stroke?? OS doesn't make a 70 2 stroke that I know of, so do you mean an OS 70 four stroke?? If that be the case, I think a 70 would be too small. A 70 is usually used in place of a 46 2 stroke for a 5-6 lb. plane and the AT6 that you refer to would require a 90 2 stroke due to the weight. A 1.20 seems about and you probably need the weight anyway, remember you can always throttle back.

RE: Seagull AT-6
ok, if i go brushless,An Axi 4130/16 is for an "aerobatic"- 4kg plane. And the axi is the same as a 8 - 10 ccm / .54-.60 -2stroke .70-.80 -4stroke. Thats what confuses me. i always overpower my planes, but i want somthing sunday-ish to fly this time:) i understand that the airframe may need the weigth of a 120, but i may also move "stuff" upp in the nose.

RE: Seagull AT-6
Hey thinking of buying this plane ( Seagull AT-6 71 - 91 2 stroke) and putting in the new DLE-20 ! What do you guys think? Will it wor? One would assume the power will be about right for a 9 lb plane.

RE: Seagull AT-6
I bought the 120 size and put a G26 on it. Took a lot of work to modify it from the way they designed it. It is a light plane, I just put the E-Flite retracts on it, but haven't had a chance to fly it since. I would definitely put the larger of the range of engines they recommend on it, my opinion, you will be sorely disappointed with the performance, if you can get a 70 to fly it in less than perfect conditions. The handling is pretty tame, not a trainer, but more graceful, you do have to stay ahead of it. It has dihedral, but it also has a tapered wing, and I can feel the difference when I get it slow.
