Vmar Arf Spitfire
HALLO,

each to their own i say. VMARS 3rd generation of airplane has been quite good as far as I have experienced. i have recently bought 2 planes and the quality has been excellent.
I know their first and second generation of planes were very ordinary but personally am quite happy with them. I just bought a world models chipmunk and the covering was very crappy to say the least. so each to their own Mattyb |

Laurence, I wish the Sportsman Aviation Spit was available when I got my Vmar Spit. Does that tell you enough?
The cowl is crap-it is thick, heavy, and inflexible causing the paint to crack and fall off in pieces. The firewalls are made out of ordinary plywood which, in my case, were warped beyond usage. If you want to put in a fair amount of extra effort it can be a very nice looking airplane. |

buy a world model spit and that's it.

Guys - regarding VMAR Spitfire - I had one - a piece of crap. The wood in the wing was like rotted liteply (which was revealed when a "rough landing" blew out both gear blocks).
Not only that, Richmond RC in Canada not only said in was my problem, they "kindly offered to sell (yeah...sell!!)me another wing". Its a poor product with a company that won't stand behind you. You want a good company? Check out the threads on Pitts Special ARF's. Great PLanes really stand behind their products. VMAR? Forget it. tfacr |

Four to one. Not good odds so far for VMar.

I bought a VMAR RV4, looked pretty but on examination the flaps had been glued solid and the ailerons were much too stiff to use. The heavy rough wood was not bonded together very well. It was also a lot heavyier than other ARTF's. I took it back and changed it for something else. everyone at the club said 'Told you so.....'

i bought a vmar cessna and it was crap. the covering they use is awful. i complained to the company and they told me i didn't know what i was talking about. then i asked the person if he has any vamar products and he said "oh no!"
good luck, john |
flies great!
Just don't try to land it!!! :D I have one of these, and am busy rebuilding the wing after the 3rd flight.... Both sets of landing gear folded up on a rather average landing(not very hard, i swear).
Tore out the leading edge, main spar, covering, sheeting, almost all the ribs were broken, etc..... After taking off the covering, I was shocked by the wood quality(I am sure the wood used for matches is better quality than this, and the inaquracy of glueing. I think I will be better off using this wing as a template for a foam wing. I can not think of any reason I'd buy another V-mar product. Have been hearing good things of the Black Horse Spitfire though... Christie |
