Chris has my deposit check for the Yak....and I'm hoping my early reservation will get me near the "first on the block"....I have to say it's been awhile since I've been this stoked about a plane. And it's an ARF, *AND* in "my" colors, to boot!!!

Although a bit of wait, I am positive it will be worth it.

Wayne,

Since you're familiar with how the GP Wagstaff Extra flys, can you compare the flying characteristics of the GP Wagstaff Extra and the Extreme Extra. Also, compare the Extreme Extra and Yak? I'm curious about how they compare to the GP since I'm thinking the Patty may have to go to fund one of these. Thanks for you input.

vtsmx - my Patty *IS* going to fund one of these....just not right away....but by the time the Yak is ready to deliver....I thought the Patty had me going....

VTSMX,

This is right off the GP website for the Patty:

Wingspan: 78 in (1980mm)
Wing Area: 1157 sq in (74.6 sq dm2)
Wing Loading: 31 oz/sq ft (94.6 g/sq dm2)
Weight: 14-16 lb (6.35 _ 7.26kg)

The numners to be concerened with are the weight and the wing area.
The wing area on the Patty compared to the 28% planes from Extreme is proportianally less. Sounds OK so far.......
The difference in how these two planes will fly is in the advertised weight.
The Extreme Yak will be 15 pounds with a DA-50 and have that extra wing area.
The Patty will be basically the same weight with a lot less wing.

The Yak's wing loading will be around 24 oz/sqft
The Patty will be right at 31.5 oz/sqft if it comes out to 15.5 pounds.

You will notice the difference in how a light plane STOPS after a maneuver. There is no over-rotation. My first few snaps with the Yak looked horrible because I was not precise enough with the sticks. If you snap short or long, you'll see it.
3D with the Yak was a blast and I felt really comfortable with it almost imediately

I did fly a Patty a few weeks ago with a BME 50 in it and it did really good. Very nice plane at whatever weight this one was. My guess is was close to 15 or so. Very nice for 3D. Really smooth for IMAC stuff. I was generally impressed. Its definately one of the best 25% planes out there.

The Extreme planes are on a different level though. Your basically getting to feel what a 35 or 40% plane feels like in a 28% package.

Chris knew that if he was going to enter the market with a new line of planes he had to make them stand out and be different.
IMO he has done it by giving you a 28% plane with lighter loading than anything out there, very stout construction, great harware etc.

Please let me know if I can answer anymore questions.

I forgot....

I did not fly any of the other 28% planes that Extreme is offering.

Does anyone know what planes they have in stock, I'm interested in the Extra 85" wing span or possible the edge?

I am on the waiting list for the 1st shipment of the 60" profile. I can't wait to get that bird. I have a 91FX that runs flawlessly waiting for a new home.

Wayne,
How do you think these planes will compare to the 27% CA Extra's?
The spec's seem very similar.

Hey Wayne, Are you on the list for getting some of these nice planes? I would sure like to see some of them fly by a good pilot (you)! Maybe if/when you get one/some I could drive up and see you demo them. I'm down by STL so I'm not far. I am thinking of getting the DP Edge, but the Edge or the Yak might change my mind. I just wish they weren't $200 more.

Blue Skies!

Dave

But they are probably worth the extra $200.00.
