4 star .60 -- Saito 100
Well I have this 4 * .60 and an extra Saito 100 (due to a dumb thumb situtation), anyway I got it fited in there but is it too much motor??? |
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
No! just use the throttle with care. It will fly awesome! Bruce |
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
Too much horsepower is Just right !!!!!! Aughta fly like a banshee!!! You'll have the prime example of "throttle managment necesary."
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
You certainly won't have to worry about long takeoff runs!:D
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
Geesh, I wonder if he will have unlimited verticle with this setup? Duh !!! It would be interesting if he could check the top speed. I'd bet on 100mph+-- I think the motor might outrun the rest of the plane!!! Ha! Do you think he can idle the motor low enough to land it??? I'd like to see it fly!!
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
Oh damn that much overpowered???
Guess I will find out where the wings will fold up in half!!! Was gonna put a 16x4 prop on it, if I have the ground clearance Ill put a 17x4 on it.. Let ya know how it goes and if I stuff it first flight! |
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
I have a 91TT 4c on mine 4*60 running 30%nitro.....she will move. The only thing I had to add was around 2% right thrust to keep the up lines straight without using to much rudder. The 100 will have a little more left pull than I have for sure.

RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
17 x 4 might be a big too much prop for Sation 100, even the 16 x 4 really a 3d Prop, its not by any means a 3D plane, but a good sport plane. I'd go with something like a APC 15x6. Good sport prop.
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
I had this exact combination and it was great. It wasn't overpowered and did not have unlimited vertical (but very good vertical).

RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
@ Tweet
What prop did you use??? 15x6? |
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
I think I ended up with a 15 x 6. I may have also tried a 14 x 8, but as you know speed isn't necessarily the point of the Four * 60.
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
I've run several Saito 100's and Personally have had good luck with a 14x7 APC prop
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
Hadn't though about it till now. Does your altitude compared to Florida affect things like , verticle performance & some 3D manuveres.-- I know it affects motors somewhat. I was just wondering.
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
I fly at ~ 5,000 feet so that was a factor. The altitude affects engine and airfoil (prop) performance. I should have pointed that out. At sea level you can expect better performance.
|
RE: 4 star .60 -- Saito 100
I don't know where, but I heard that altitude affects overall performance .I was curious. We stay in Florida for the winters, & live in North-central Indiana in the summer. I really can't tell much if any difference between the 2. The airfield down here has a swamp at each end & our field up North has stinking 10ft. high corn on 3 sides. As long as you don't get dumb thumbs it don't matter !!!
