Hobby People is advertising this plane for $199. Anyone have any experience with this jug...good, bad?

There is an RCUniverse review of this plane and the reviewer seemed to like it a lot. Also there is a review somewhere else that I read and the reviewer there liked it a bunch as well. The only complaint that I have ever really heard is that the wheels are too small for grass fields. I know that I am going to buy this plane in the next month or two.

I've got one that I'm finishing up right now. A little disappointed with some of it. The fiberglass cowl finish was and is still messed up. I contacted Global who sent out a new one (very nice of them, no questions asked), however the new one's green overlay paint is not centered. Also one of the ailerons is warped 5/16ths of an inch (didn't notice until I had secured to the wing). I have seen them do better monocote work on other models too. The seams just didn't line up and are bunched badly in others.

I going to fly the plane as is for awhile. Then I'm going to strip it down and fully sheet the wing and glass the whole thing. Looking into cutting in flaps and I've already installed Robard retracts. I did get in there and beef up the supports for the retracts as well.

Overall I really like the plane. Just make sure you throughly inspect the the plane before you pick it up.

What model Robart retracts did you use, and did they fit with minimal modifications? I find the retracts that come with the plane to be a bit weak for a grass field. Tough to not nose over at the end of the landing. I even spaced the back of them out to try to get the wheels forward more. I enlarged the wheel bays and managed to get 2 3/4" wheels on it too. The stockers are incredibly small. In the air, the plane flys great for a warbird.

I used the 605HD with #650 oleos struts. I double backed the cross member wood mounts and doubled the the wing spars at the leading edge. I cut off the coil on the 605hd and mounted the oleos with an 1/8 inch clearance from the base of the retract. I figured the oleo strut was designed to asbsorb landings. I tossed their wheels and I am using robards. I fly off pavement though so I didn't increase the diameter.

I am putting one together also...Overall everything looks pretty good. The covering does look bad around the wing tips and stabilizer other than that I think she looks pretty good.
