Is anyone familiar with the Extra 330 72" ARF available from GiantScalePlanes or Creek Hobbies in NJ?

My question has to do with the wing attachment. The wing is a two piece wing which is attached to the fuse with a spring which connects to hooks into the wing cord. The wing also features an aluminum cross brace and "stubs" which seat into the fuse.

Has this method of attaching the wing ever failed?
Is there a better way of attaching the wing?

I would like to hear responses from modelers who are aware of this method of attaching the wing.

Yup, this has been discussed. Do a search on Creek Hobbies Extra and you'll find information about this.

Suffice it to say that the spring is NOT enough. Most of us who have one, have gone to alternate methods. I use zip ties in addition to the spring. I'll have to check out that aluminum cross brace. I haven't heard of that yet.

Sorry, I misspoke regarding the "cross brace". I meant the aluminum tube which slides through the wing spars. Now that I re-read the post I have no idea where the idea of a "cross brace" came from. :confused:

We've beefed up the spring by inserting a rubber band through the spring. It added a great deal of strength to the spring but I can still foresee the wing pivoting in flight. I'm going to increase the length of the metal "studs" which fit into the fuse sides.

The use of zip ties is a good idea.

I feel that it would be wise to beef up the wing attachments. There are many ideas listed..
