Pulse XT 40 engine mounting

I was thinking about mounting an OS .46ax sideways on the Pulse so the exhaust will shoot out underneath the plane. But I am not sure how to accomplish this and wonder if it's worth the trouble? It would take some modification due to the preinstalled blind nuts, and throttle linkage. Anyone have tips/techniques/links to share on engine mounting,or on specifically mounting an engine in this airframe?
Also I thought I read something somewhere about closing up all the holes in the firewall to keep the goo on the outside. Any suggestions there?
thanks,
Jeff

RE: Pulse XT 40 engine mounting

Hey Jeff --
This should work just fine.
You definately want to close up the holes in the firewall and while you're doing that you can knock out the blind nuts and plug those holes too. I generally just insert a piece of the appropriate sized dowel as a light force fit into the hole and then hit it w/ CA and sand it flush. Then you can mount the engine however you want. Throttle linkage/servo location can be worked out after that. And while you're in there I'd suggest that you reinforce the gear mounting blocks. Scabbing each side w/ a piece of ply'll do it.
Good luck. It's a great flying airplane and that OS 46 will make it honk.

In case you haven`t encountered it elsewhere, suggest you mount the landing gear with 6/32 nylon bolts instead of the metal ones that come with the kit. They`ll shear off in rough landings and will save you from having the whole gear rip out. You can get them at Lowe`s or Home Depot.
