I have one its a ok plane but the elevator and rudder linkage system is a poor design.
Now that I have one I kind of wish I didnt, also the plane is to light on the nose gear
you have to hold down elevator on take off just to steer it.

I have a OS46 in mine I run a 11x5 prop for the best speed but its not that fast about
65or 70mph I would guess.

Interesting. Thanks for chiming in. I was looking at it the other day and liked the lines of it. I guess I'll have to let it pass though. No biggie, just like the looks of a jet. For 179.99 you'd think they would have it designed a bit better huh?

thanks,

Ira: Try a 10x7 APC for a quick 20 mph increase in speed.

Thanks for the reply but I have tried 10x7 and 10x8 props but the OS fs engine
seems to run stronger when proped for the lower rpm.

Someone told me the other day that Hobby People had them on sale for I think 129.95.
I known they dont have Hobby People stores in TX but you can mail order them, For the
sale price it may be worth it.

I'm confused. You said you had an OS 46. Then you said you had an OS fs. The fs engines are 4-strokes, and I don't remember OS making a 46 4-stroke. Or did you mean FSR. More confusion. You said your engine runs lower rpm on an 11x5 than it does on a 10x8? That would not normally be the case, since the 10x8 should load the engine a lot more than the 11x5 does.

Can you straighten me out?

Jim

Sorry I intended to say OS46 FX also I have not tached the engine but it seems faster
rpm wise with the 10x7or 10x8 props but I could be wrong, However I do know the
planes air speed is faster with the 11x5.

RE: VQMDL TomHawk 46 ARF Sport "Jet

Thanks for the clarification. A 10x8 is too much prop for a 46, but the 10x7 "should" turn about the same rpm as the 11x5, and the higher pitch at the same rpm "should" make the airplane 20 mph faster. Running the numbers, a 5 pitch prop on that engine pencils out at about 60 mph in level flight. But a 7 pitch should run about 85 mph. Of course that depends on the individual airplane configuration. And if you using Master Airscrew props, all bets are off.

i have one the rudder design sucks but over all looks are great i put Hobart air retracts and a OS 75 with a 13-8 prop and its well over 100mph the motor makes it a Lil nose heavy which i guess takes care of the steering problem so i added some led to tail to CG it and its still at 8 lbs so super light and super fast ..... it lands vary fast but flies great
