A friend and I are looking for a nice combo to fly around together. We hope to hover side by side and perform some low torque rolls. (we enjoy flying our helis together, especially inverted right on the deck). We have two Thunder Tiger Pro 46's that we would like to use.

How well would the H9 Pizzaz fly with these engines. We don't want to spend the money on fourstrokes at this time, but we also don't want to waste our time with the TT 46's if they are far from adequate. I found 2 ys 53's in the engines forum, but we have no experience with the ys engines. How do the ys 53's compare to the saito 72?

Finally, where is the best place to buy these arfs? What is the best price you have found, even though I realize they are "advertised price protected".

Any further comments, suggestions, warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Ultimately our goal is limited investement for the most fun.

I have a pizzaz with an O.S. 61 FX and it rocks. I put the rudder servo on the bottom in the back for balence and it will hover with ease. Check out my site.

Did you try to fly it with a 46 sized engine first? I am afraid of the 61 weighing too much.

How does your plane hover, torque roll, knife edge, and flat spin?

I did have an O.S. 46 fx on it at first and it would torque roll. I was just bored with it. It will do knofe edge loops. The flatest spins I have ever done. I have also landed it twice doing a flat spin that is how flat it gets. I will post more pictures of the mods on my site. Go with the .61 and get the cg to 4 to 4 1/2 and you will love it.

That would be a good combo. I've seen a couple of the Pizzaz
ARF's fly at our field, and they look very stable. Almost all my 2
strokes are the TT-46 & 36. Once broken in the 46 always starts
with a finger flip of the spinner clockwise. Strong power and no
dead sticks w/ A-3 or #8 plugs used after break-in plug. A good
friend of mine has the YS-53 on his hovering plane. With the pump on the engine it took a little work to get it set up, but once
right it has the fastest throttle response I've seen in a 4 stroke.
I think the only advantage of the 72 would be prop dia.
One choice I would offer is the TT Giles or Extra profiles. Huge
ailerons for better low and slow torgue rolls. My Extra jumps off
the runway and wants to climb. I'm using the TT-54 FS.
If you go Pizzaz or any box fuse arf pilots should ALWAYS use
thin Ca on ALL hot glue joints to make sure they are solid. Sometimes it take med. or thick to fill a gap. Too many post on
here of pilots saying their planes fall apart. And in the fuel tank
area I always slosh thinned 45 min. epoxy in the box and the back of the firewall. Have yet for a firewall break loose.

Yes one had the TT-46 the other had a MDS something. I'm
sold on the 46 for reliable running. I'm old and slow and I don't
jerk my planes around at light speed. Not saying the 46 isn't fast
but someone will always want to show how fast their plane is.
Usually straight down after the stabs fold. I prefer to fly pattern
style with the throttle and level / smooth. The 46 will work fine
with like a 11x5 or 6 prop. On mine I use mostly 3 blade 10x7.

Can you tell me if the plane would hover and torque roll with your 46? How did the flight performance change with the 61?

I don't want to sacrifice the light wing loading by adding an overkill engine.

I just got mine finished. Went with a saito 72 4 stroke. Supposed to be one hot combo. Lookin' forward to flying it.

It would hover with the 46 but had little left.

Just because the engine is a .61 doesn't mean you have to fly around full throttle all day. I can hover at 1/4 throttle and pull out with ease.

It won't do that with a 46. It will hover at around 3/4 throttle and not much left.

Put the big engine on it. Power gets you out of trouble. My 2 cents.

Have had mine with the Saito .72 on it a while now. awesome combo, i think i'm gonna go bigger on the prop than the 13-6, probly APC 14-4 funfly...i think the tt .46 would be a great combo, with the right prop, it would be awesome as well.

Up Roar put 30% nitro in that 72 and it won't make any difference whether you have a 13/6 or 14/4. The 12 dollar price tage shyed me away from the 14/4.

i hear the morris hobbies top cap will outperform most fun fly and profile planes, and at 150$ for ARF is a really good deal, and I believe the maker of the arf is World Models, so you know the quality is next to none. it will hover with most if not all 40 sized engines and does knife edge loops, flat spins, etc. my 2 cents

Did you have to add much tail weight or did the moving the rudder servo back there help?

I put a 5 cell receiver pack behind the throttle and elevator servos in the wing. And the rudder servo in the tail. I didn't add any extra weight. The total weight for the plane is 5lbs. 11oz. It flies like a dream.

I love the TT pro .46 ...great engine.

But, a friend had an OS .46 FX on his pizazz...he had to add weight to the nose. It flew very sprightly, but none of us thought it had the "Umpff" to do 3D work.

If you want to hover at eye level, you will definitely need more engine power to recover. A small slip at 3 feet and...

Since you have to ADD weight to the nose with a .46, I recommend the TT Pro .61...it adds nose weight, and power.

You might want to try easing the CG back to 5 inches. It makes it a different plane. It's still completely manageable but will really do some more fun stuff.
I've had a TT54, YS63 and now a Saito72 in mine. Mine weights 5lbs 6oz with 2 oz of lead in the tail and a 5 cell battery pack at the trailling edge of the wing. The TT54 wasn't enough. The YS63 will jerk the plane around and the Saito 72 will too if you use enough nitro (30%heli). I have a YS53 and it's great but I don't think it would be enough. Based on how this plane flys with these engines I wouldn't use any 2stroke less than a very HOT 45 or hot 50+ with a Nelson tuned muffler. Right there your cost went close or past the YS or SAITO
The answer then is put a low cost 60 in it but it will gain weight

Darn. After reading this my Tower .46 might not be enough.
I ordered the Pizazz and was planning on putting my existing Tower .46 engine on it. I wanted to do all that 3D stuff (torque rolls, etc.) Don't have the money to put a 4-stroke in it.
Anyone running the Pizazz with the Tower .46?

I'm thinking there would be a problem if you flew at the same time with an identical plane......WHOOPS!!!! S***!!!!

I have heard only good things about Morris planes. However, I have heard of the Pizazz having problems with the with holder not fitting and being off by as much as 1/4 inch. The Pizazz is also quite a bit heavier than a profile kit. I would buy a Morris kit and cover it my own way so it was very different than your friend's to avoid any mishap.

i've been running the 30% in the .72 since the day i broke it in...
just seems like its not turning the R's that horizon quoted... i know the 14-4 wont give me more r's but more thrust....i dunno, i saw that price and i'm not so sure...

My Pizazz has a Saito .56 four stroke on it. Flies well and will do anything I ask of it....
Now the boy wants to put a Saito 72 on it....... whoa boy!! ;)

I just saw a Pizazz at the local Hobby shop but I seem to have it bad for the Morris Sudoikoi. I can't get that plane out of my head. Someone help me.

I just put a Pizazz together with a saito 91 on the front.. All I can say is it's AWESOME!! It hovers at 1/4 throttle and pulls out hard!! On the first flight I was doing knife edge passes very slow at 5' off the ground!!! It has NO roll coupling and just a lttle pitch toward the belly on knife edge... I have not flown planes in a while (been flying heli's alot lately) and this was so easy and predictable to fly! I did not have to ad any weight to the plane to balance it..
I am VERY happy with the plane so far.......
