Lanier Edge or GSP Katana

I have ordered the GSP Katana, but now I am having buyers remorse.

Looking for a 3D plane to fly with my OS 1.60. I like the looks of the Katana, there aren't a dozen of them at the field on Sunday.

Should I have gone for the Lanier?

Leonard

PS Talking about the 72" version of both planes.

I think you made a good call. The Edge is a good plane, but the increased wing area of the Katana should make it a little better in the slower fliight regimes.

I just dont like the cheap econokote that gsp planes are covered in, their arcs are ok though

ive got both planes the katana weighs with engine zdz 40 at 12# and my edge with same motor weighed 13.5 the katana flies way better than the edge ... lanier edge that is... great combo is the katana w/ zdz 2.4 no lead needed for balancing
flies outstanding what more could you ask for

katanaguy,

I'm planning on using an OS 1.60fx on this plane. I'm assuming to get the balance 'perfect' (I tend to like them a bit tail heavy) I will have to install both elevator servos and rudder servo near the wing tube or possibly mount two minis for the elevators in the tail. I am trying to minimize the amount of mass at extreme fore and aft locations for better waterfalls, lomcevaks, etc.

Do you think this engine combo will have enough power? If not, I will probably add a tuned pipe. If it still doesn't 'get it' I'll probably jump up to a ZDZ40RV...all things considered they're just as light as a Moki 2.1 with only slightly less power...
