Seagull Ultimate CG question
Just bought the ARF kit and was reading through the manual and after reading the balancing instructions it seems confusing, maybe since it is my first bipe. It says to mean from the leading edge at the center of the top wing rib. I understand that but what is the actual process to doing it? draw a line at the location and use your finger tips or what? I'm used to wing tip balancing and low wing CG.

RE: Seagull Ultimate CG question
I balanced mine by tying a string around the permanent cabane on the top wing at the cg point per the manual. Made it a lot easier to do since I couldn't get it on my cg machine very easily. I tried balancing it with fingertips, but it was kind of a pain trying to work around the cabanes, hanging it by the string let me adjust the position fairly easy.

RE: Seagull Ultimate CG question
The string idea is a good one, wish I had thought of that.
I balanced mine by the finger tip method. I put two marks on each wing, one mark at the forward CG and one mark reward CG (per instruction manual), and balanced (finger tip) just past past mid point closer to the reward mark. The plane flies great at this location, however I think it will do fine within the range given in the instructions, does not seem to be pitch sensitive at all. In fact I have been thinking of moving the CG backward. |
