Sig Something extra airfoil
What does the sig something extra have as an airfoil (ARF) ? Tower's web says semi symetrical , but if you build the kit it has a symetrical wing. This is going to influence my decision on which one to buy. ARF or kit.

RE: Sig Something extra airfoil
come on guys! this is not a stupid question. has anyone had or have the ARF version? if you do what airfoil does it rerally have?

RE: Sig Something extra airfoil
I've had both the ARF and kit version. The ARF has a symetrical airfoil like the kit.

Chuck, Thanks for the info Towers web site is wrong

RE: Sig Something extra airfoil
Yah, you find a typo here and there on Tower and other sites.
The SSE ARF flew just as good as my kit version. I only had problems with the firewall coming out after repeated snap rolls and the rudder hinges breaking. I would look at the firewall closely and add a little epoxy and/or tri-stock just to be safe. The supplied hinges weren't the typical Sig CA hinges, you might want to upgrade to those or Great Planes CA hinges. Maybe use a different tail wheel such as a Sullivan too in order to take some stress off the rudder. |
RE: Sig Something extra airfoil
I may build the sse . I am a big fan of robart hinges ans sullivan tail wheels. I use those on all my planes.
there is some very good threads on rcu on building the sse. |
