Something wrong W/ Something Extra
Something Extra ARF out of the box needed full right trim to fly true. Got it on the ground and noticed that the left aileron was had a slight twist in it. We heated the mono on the aileron and got it straight with the trailing edge of the wing. Took it out today after straighting the aileron and it still needs 4 to 5 clicks of right trim to fly true. Need help here. Everything seems to look and measure out according to the manual. HELP!!!!!

Lateral balance?
Just reset the linkage and keep flyin'- |

Aileron trim? Did you check the lateral balence? The engine or muffler may make it heavy on one side.

I just rechecked the measurements on the elevators and left side is 5" from a table top and the right side is 51/2" from a table top. I need to adjust the clevis on the wires to equalize each side to get the measurements equal. How much could this have had with it trying to turn to the left and needing all my trim on the right side.

You said horizontal stab, but I'm assuming you mean elevators. The horizontal would have had to be installed pretty crooked to get a measurement like that. As for your question, if the elevator halves were not equal, yes, they would act as mini ailerons and twist your plane like you described.

With the flying wires it would be possible to hold one side higher than the other. The light balsa used in the tail feathers will bend readily. I would think that would indeed cause problems. Straighten it out and see how it goes!

If your elevator halves are not aligned, adjusting the flying wires won't help. Were the halves flat on your work bench when you glued the control rod into them?

Yes, when I installed the wire into the elevators I layed it on a flat surface and also pushed it tight against another flat and straight object to insure that it was true from both sides. On the plane now the elevator measures the same on all sides from a flat surface to the edge of the elevators. Each side is the same.
