Precision packing, getting your ARFs to the field
1 Attachment(s)
It was a rare, almost perfect, day today in Ohio, so I decided to take (4) ARFs with me to the field. My Aero Tech Yak 54, 82" Gee Bee Y, Carl Goldberg Ultimate, and my little Phase 3 F-16. Here they are all packed up. How do you all transport safely?
I also took a shot after the day of flying was over. They all came back in tack;) (the F-16 is in front of the Gee Bee). Brian had his F-16 there as well and we flew them together. A lot of fun.:D Also got a picture of 83 year old Miles Reed as he taxied his 40% Weeks back in after another thrilling flight. WOW! |

When I had a tonneau cover on my pickup this is how I packed for a trip to the flying field.

Nice use of space. Caps help with giants, but I need to get my trailer back on the road. I can leave the stuff in that.

Me also use a 4ftx6ft trailer have wing shelvs built in to hold wings. I can carry up to 7 planes very easily. Although I don't. Usually 4 that is all the wing saddles i have made. The small trailer is also a very good storage place for when not flying. One day my buddy and myself were installing the wing shelves and had three planes and my equip, in it he said i had better get good lock for it. Next morning I had been working on it myself when he came over and had the doors open and making places to hang stuff. He looked inside and asked what i had done with the planes. I fell over beside myself I had been working on it for an hour and just did not notice my planes and equip, was gone. I ran inside and grabbed the phone for the police and walked back out while dialing. He was walking off laughing. Opened his picup door and there my stuff was. He said you think about them locks now. I could have killed him. I had already told my wife someone had stolen everything. So no matter what you put them in make sure they are locked up lol.

Here is a pic of my Blazer loaded up for a day at the field. I was able to pack in a Rascal 40, 4* 60 and a lil Zagi 400. I usually took two or three with me to the field when I had the Blazer.
I now have a Tacoma with a tonneau cover so I can't put that many in there. I also started using carrying cradles made with PVC pipe and put the wings in the cab. I don't have any pics of the Tacoma loaded but I like that I can leave them secured in the bed without anyone peeking in and thinking of breaking a window to take one. |
