GP !/3 Scale pitts
Got new Pitts but was wondering if anyone used only 2 aleron servos seems it will be hard to hide upper servo wires. I'm going to use a Q42 because i already own one but will probably upgrade later. Anyone try using one servo upright and the other one upside down for the split elevators?Hey guys for cheap thrills I'M flying 4 star120s with Ryobi engines with a Dubro simple smoke system and a two piece wing all up weight is about 14 1/2 Lbs. Its not unlimted but with a 16x10 APC it's no slouch either. :)

With regard to your elevator servos. Do not set them up the way you suggested. You will most likely end up with a differential throw, causing you more trouble than you can imagine. Spend the money and get a JR Match box, or one by another manufacturer. Makes life a lot simpler.
As far as the ailerons go, two servos will work fine. Might I suggest a servo that is relatively fast (.20sec/60deg. or faster), and around 70 oz in of torque, or better. I personally prefer a digital servo for better centering resolution, speed, and torque. I watched a Cermark Pitts strip out two standard Futaba servos on the first flight of both the plane and the servos. Plane was saved by a very good and quick thinking pilot using rudder/elevator only from that point to the landing. I don't remember the month of issue, but one of the kit reviews of this plane (R.C.M. or M.A.N.) used the two servo set up with no problems at all. The full scale Pitts' has aileron slave struts anyway. |

I use the two aileron servo configuration and it works fine. I agree with Silversurfer's comments on the elevator servos. I used a Y harness on the ailerons and two separate channels for the elevators and then mixed them with a Futaba Super 8 radio.
Check out this thread for pictures and additional comments on this subject. http://rcuniverse.com/showthread.php...782&forumid=38 In one of the thread I provided info on what I did for the slave rod connection for the lower and upper ailerons. Hope this helps. |

I used two servos and the vibration on the slave struts is too much on idle,so i'm upgrading to four.
I used the servos on the split-elevator with a Y harness and they work perfect,no differential throw. hope this help you . |
