Servo question

Bought some metal gear servo's for my ailerons on my biplane. I noticed they are a little noisy, do metal gear servo's tend to make a little more noise than regular servo's?

Don't forget to loctite the servo arm screw in too......

Locktite? You're telling a very bad joke, right?
If you have a motor shaking so badly it's vibrating the screws out of your servos, it's time to balance the propeller my friend. In 30 years I've never seen a servo screw come out on even a horribly built and running model. Sheeesh!

Well don't get too hasty on your condemnation of using Loctite on the servo arm screws as some of the manufacturers recommend it on their larger MG servos for use in GS gassers. Those engines do produce more vibration regardless of your care in balancing the prop/spinner...

There ARE ways to get into trouble with it; not using a removable type, using it on Karbonite geared servos, getting too much of it on the screw and so forth.

I don't do the Loctite thing on my stuff but I have changed all the servo arm screws on my bigger models, which also have metal servo arms, to socket head screws with star lock washers and that seems to do the job. Plus there are no issues with messing up the Phillips head on the screws or monkeying around trying to figure out if that slot is Phillips or JIS standard...[8D]

You wil also notice more slop in the gears. It's the price you pay for strength.
