60 size planes...
Hello guys... I have a mustang PST with a OS 46FX and I really like it, I just realized I like warbirds, I want to build either a hellcat or thunderbolt 60 size... I was just wondering about engines... I'll get definetely an OS 61, I wanted to know if I can use any OS 61 or it has to be a FX???? I see many kinds of 61, at the club were I go to fly, there are some OS 61 on sale but they are not FX, they other letters...... what do you recommend guys??? or if I am getting a warbird it does not really matter what OS 61???? Thanks. |
RE: 60 size planes...
The 61SF is also excellent, but avoid the FP. That is a bushing engine and doesn't have the power of a ball bearing engine.
Now if you really want a great combo, try the H-9 Hellcat with an OS 91 4-stroke [sm=thumbup.gif] |

I think I am gonna stay in the 60 sizes...

RE: 60 size planes...
If you buy a used OS, be sure you check the liner and make sure it hasn't peeled off. This was, and maybe still is, a common failure for the 46 and 61. Thunder Tiger makes a nice 61 and there are others you should at least look at.

A 91 four stroke is the "same" power as a 61 two stroke. My bet is if you try the 91 four stroke you won't go back to two stroke engines. Even though four strokes are more expensive, I think they are worth it. |
