Im sorry I had to LOL at this thread.

No company is going to sue you for putting a sticker on your RC Plane.

Anyone whom thinks so would surely get laughed out of court.

"Your honor the defendant put a sticker on a radio controlled plane"

It wouldn't be just a "sticker". It would be an entire scheme complete with logos, emblems and copywritten catch phrases. I put some real thought into this and just was throwing the question out there as I've seen other planes with commercial logos and didn't know if there was a certain avenue to take. Looks like the concencus is to go for it anyway.

I wouldnt hesitate.

I mean its good to ask if your unsure or are seeking a consensus.

I just find the naysayers funny. What large company in their right mind would go after a consumer flying a model/hobby plane because they used their "image" if you will. I just cant forsee it happening unless you did something tasteless and to harm the company- which obviously is not the intent. Even if you did make something to try and harm the company you still have your rights...

Well, it's going to be the GP 1/4 scale Yak for this design. A lot of great things to say about this plane. I'm going to setting it up with an OS 200FS too.

I visited a print company that makes decals & cuts vinyl etc. I want them to make a scheme for my EF yak. The first thing he asked is if I had permission to use the logos! I'll be emailing various companies asking for permission and high resolution image files :D

As a former Kit Car Builder who has had a run ins with both Lamborghini(Audi) and Italidesigns I can tell you from letters from lawyers, they can sue you if you make a COPY of a PRODUCT they are SELLING or have a financial interest in.

Example a Lamborghini Diablo Replica, you can make a copy for yourself but as soon as you place LAMBORGHINI BADGES on it you have broken copy write laws and AUDI will go for you, They have been in the USA and have shut down about 8 companies in the past year.

As Nissian DOES NOT sell RC Aircraft and have NO financial interest in to RC Aircraft, you are NOT breaking COPY WRITE to any product they are selling.

Placing NISSIAN on you aircraft would be MARKETING AVERTISING for NISSIAN that they do not have to pay for. So I do not see then having a problem in it.

If you still a worried contact NISSIANS head office in the USA or drop them a email.

I built an EV Bike here with TOYOTA BADGES on it as I love Toyotas, Toyota just laughed at it when I showed them.

I'm not worried about it. They never got back to me anyway. I thought I was doing the right thing but apparently it really doesn't matter. I'm going forward with this project and will fly this plane like all my other models only this one will be somewhat unique. I have some ideas and a source where I can design my own graphics. I'll be sure and post pix as things develop. Thanks for all the help folks and stay tuned for more......;)
