Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
They make some nice looking models.
I enjoyed the 40 size Spacewalker |
RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
nice:D

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Boy, that is nice.
I'm thinking of putting my MVVS 26cc gasser in one. The engine is very light and will spin a 17" prop without a hitch. At just about 1/4 scale, this plane would be great at IMAA events. Jesse |
RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
that is a good idea to put in on a small gasser

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
A while back we had a 1/3 scale Spacewalker show up at our giant scale event that had a on-board remote engine starter. It was the one hole version of the S.W. I can't seem to find any pics of it...[:@]

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
I bit the bullet, and pulled the trigger on the beauty.:D I picked it up last night, and will be powering it with my spare YS 1.10S and a 16-6, untill my three cases of 20/20 are gone.:D:D Then I will probaly go to a 26CC gas in it. The quality surpasses even my last GP adventure (1/4 scale RV-4).:D

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Can we cowl a small gasser like a E-26 and keep it all in the cowl? Can someone measure the width of the cowl please? I have ordered one myself and would like it very much if it would fit with in the cowl including the muffler, most likely a wrap around inverted pitts style will be the only choice. I also have a First Place 21cc engine, but that has a side carb, this could be a choice as well. How does the finish of the plane look? Is there good hardware with it?

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
82" wingspan, not bad at all for the price
|
RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
The arf looks to be of exceptional quality.:D The cowling is about 8" wide. A Zenoah 20 would fit totally inside except for the velocity stack.:D

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
And there mine sits, under the Christmas Tree, all wrapped up, with a very clear message........... Warning ! Don't even think of opening this up 'till Christmas morning. :( Oh well, at least, it's in the house. :D Seeya, MM

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Since I know Santa dose not like the warm carbean weather I will open mine as soon as I get it from customs tomorrow. Will try to fit a zenoah 26 or a mac mb290 convertion.
Have fun Waldo Waco brotherhood no.22 |
RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
If the cowl is approx 8" wide just about any small gasser will fit easily. I have the FPE 21 in a SIG 110 Rascal and the cowl is only 4 to 5" wide, 1/2 the carb sticks out but thats it, I'm sure then this would be a good canidate for such a engine. If anyone starts the build with a small gasser please post some pic's.

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Guys, where do we find the pilot heads and control panels for this plane. MM
|
RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
This Space Walker is approx. 1/4 scale. Williams Bros. has some decent looking sport pilots that would work well. The full-scale Space Walker is a homebuilt kit that pretty much leaves the instrument panel up to the builder. I've seen other models of this plane with a wood panel and basic instruments. Cockpit combing looks good too.

Wouldn't this plane look sweet with these "jugs" sticking out from both sides on the cowl?:

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Well, If you have plenty of extra money, sure, that'd be a nice engine. Kind of a small hassle with the dual remote glow plug set-up. At eleven pounds, it's the same weight as GP's RV-4. A 1.25 Saito is more than enough power, Maybe a 1.15 will work out OK. It's still unclear where to find the pilot heads. Those on the ARF box top don't look like un-finished-you -have-to -paint type. Wonder if those GP 1/4 scale heads would work? . Comments ? MM

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Thanks for the photo's dafid, is there any surprises with this ARF? I have it on order but have not seen one yet. Is it built well? covering job OK? Does the 120 handle it well?
|
RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Hi Hayman.
Yes Seagull have done a good job on the build of the space walker an the covering is good to.You may get the odd bouble here an there but nothing the ole iron wont put right. The dummy engines are a bit naf tho, thats why i left them of the cowl. I will prob make some at a later date. It flys like a big ole puddy cat on the 120 fs. I dont think you will be dissapointed with this model. Dave. |
