Hi, this is my 3rd plane (first was aerobird challenger) and I just took it out on the field this cold morning, and charged the battery with the car charger until the light was full on. When I tried to fly it, the full throttle worked for about 2 seconds and then just shut off. I had a second 8.4v that had also previously worked that I tried to charge but the charger didn't even recognize this was charging, and to no surprise that battery did not work. On the way home, I put in the new battery in the car charger, and left it there till the light was full on (the instuctions say full on, not blinking, is when the battery is fully charged). I then took it out, plugged it into the plane, and it went on full power for a couple of minutes until I turned it off (even though I did notice a drop in the speed as time passed).

Basically, my question is, I have a 9.6v battery from a previous airplane (NiMH 1100mAh), and I am wondering if this will work on the plane if I can't get the 8.4v to work, or will it ruin the plane?

I don't think it's the batteries at all. I think the problem is in either the car charger or the way you are charging the batteries. Try draining the batteries. I mean really draining them. Put the plane at half throttle till the plane cuts out. Let the battery sit for about half hour and then put the plane at quarter throttle till it cuts out again. After all this charge the battery full. If this improves the battery life, repeat the process one more time.

Try it, it worked for me.

The chargers supplied with the Parkzone and Hobbyzone airplanes are a cheap version of a peak charger . Sometimes they false peak , and need to be unplugged and started again to reach full charge . You may have to do this a couple times to get the battery fully charged . You can try cycling the batteries as suggested above , it does work . You can use the 9.6 volt battery , just be sure to not run the plane at full throttle for extended periods of time . I used to run the 10.8 volt Mustang batteries in my old Aerobird and it made quite a bit of difference in the power . I burned out one speed controller though running it at full throttle for too long . The extra power made that plane way more fun to fly .

i've a aerobird swift and i love it. however ive had two transmitters and three new recievers is this a problem anyone else has endured? i'd also like MORE POWER grrr grrrr grrr any suggestions? ive got a old parkzone spitfire battery thats a 10.8v. i know theres a few on ere asking the same but no definitive answers. some help would be helpful.
