Anyone flying the DP Edge, I am putting a BME 44 in mine and would like to know if this will be enough motor. I had it in my SIG 300XS and it was plenty, but it only weighed about 12.5 lbs. Any input would be great! Thanks

Its awesome, My buddy has a Moki 2.1 in it and its beatiful. I think that 44 will be more than enough, It is a light plane for its size.

You need to make major firewall mods to get any gaser on a DP edge to work. It will last 2 flights as it is.

my friend has one with a fox 2.4, which is almost as much power as the 44, it flys good with a menz 20x10 prop. Its got pretty much unlimted vertical from straight and level flight, but dont think it will punch out of a hover. All around I think you will be happy with the 44.

What about a DA-50?

Thanks for the input.
I was originally going to go with the DA-50. but talked to the guys at Chief and they said that the DA-50 was a lot taller then the BME 50 and would stick out of the cowl a lot. I am using the 44 just because I have it. It its not enough I may look at the BME 55 Extreme. I guess its down to just over 2 lbs.

The DA 50 is a better choic for an engine. It is super smooth. The BME 44 has a fairly rough mid range, although dependable. Also you need to disesemble the fire wall and reglue with epoxy.

FIREWALL

Yes fix the firewall it sucks and dave will blame it on the gas engine knowing it is a defect and thats if you can contact him. My gas engine is im-fact lighter then the moki 1.8 he recomends after you put the added fuel the pump and what ever muffler you run. Mine made it 4 flights just glad it pulled the choke and killed the engine. He all most wouldn't talk about the fire wall after i sent a fax to him explaining i was having trouble contacting him and i had a defect. All he wanted to do was ***** me out for being unhappy with his support system. The firewall would have failed no matter what engine was on it there was very little glue holding it. Oh and if you are just getting started with aero-battics dont forget the cg needs to go forward a bit 6" is not so forgiving can you say snap with the quickness. later dudes good luck.
