What do I need to complete this set up??

PRESCRIPT... I started writing this and realize I PLEASE need someone with experience to help recommned a set up. Skip to XXXXXXX's Below to get the jist

Hey Guys,

I posted just a bit earlier about a float plane and which plane. I think I've decided on a SLowstick. I see there are a few "versions" I guess? (Pico, NPS, .. what do these mean?)

Anyway, I was thinking of this one [link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=GWS1005]SS[/link] as I like the look of the fuselage version. AND, I have a small area to fly in, so the 37" span is appealing. They also have a 41" and 46" version it looks like.

I want to use it with floats. So I will need enough power to do so

I had seen a post that recommened this brushless motor
[link=http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2112]motor[/link]. Would this be a good one? I want to do this as cheaply as possible, but won't break in an hour, ya know?

I have the specktrum DX5e, so I guess I will need to buy a new receiver for it? Or, I have an old futaba 4 channel radio/receiver I guess I could use and not spend the cash?

Hoirzon hobby also has a brushelss version ready to go I think
[link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=GWSAE0018N]brushelss version[/link]

would you recommend it, or going with the first one and adding my own brushless?

I've also seen some people take the stock 400 with floats easily out of the water, but they may have had lipo's on.

GOD I'm getting so confused! Please help!!! : )

Can someone with a LOT of experience in all this recommend a good set up. I want a small slowstick (so I can fly in confined spaces) and want to add floats so I need enough power (eps-400 or brushless?, lipo or nimh?)

I have a full radio system (futaba 4 channel radio/receiver, or a specktrum that I would need to buy a new receiver from so I don't have to borrow it from my other plane) I have a 3200mAh 3S 11.1V 15C Li-Po, but it seems this would be too heavy for it maybe???

I need servos (I see cheap ones for $10 at towerhobbies, that are 7.9 grams). and then I think that's about it (other than the esc to match whichever motor I end up going with).

Thanks for any help you can offer
Tim

RE: What do I need to complete this set up??

One more question on this - should I consider the E-starter NPS, and get one of the above mentioned brushless motors?

I'm not sure which will handle better in wind. Which will handle better in small space. ?

Thanks again!
Tim

Tim,
You would probably get a better response if you posted over in this thread, lot's of good info over there.
