DP Ultimate and Control Horns
Which horns?? My new purple Ultimate has metal horns for the ailerons and you use #2 screws to hold them in. I was a tad sceptical but putting 4 screws in aech horn should be fine seeing they won't be having more than 40 oz or torque put on them. The other horns seem fine for the tail.

DP Ultimate and Control Horns
Inorris,
I just pruchased a 1.20 DP Ultimate that has several flights on her with a Saito 1.80. I too was concerned about the stock control horns. But close examination of both the stock carbon fiber aileron horns and the stock elevator/rudder horns has proven them to be rock solid. I was afraid that the screw-in aileron horns could pull out. But if installed properly as these were, they have not yet loosened up at all. I was also concerned with those skimpy looking plastic snap-links. But they have proven to be rock solid also. I would also provide a comment on the pull-pull elevator. This is the first plane I had with a pull-pull split elevator. It is superior to anything else I have seen, including dual direct link servos. Rock solid, very light and looks cool to boot. |

DP Ultimate and Control Horns
Inorris,
The white horns for the tail screw into each other, one top and bottom, the aileron horns have #2 screws that should fit. Mine came with #3s and you can't use them with the metal horns w/o drilling them. I called Dave Patrick and spoke to him and it appears that they cahnged out the horns from CF to metal but forgot to put the new screws in. I got the #2s and they seem small but I pre-drilled them and then used some CA to secure the threads and they seem very strong. Jeff |

DP Ultimate and Control Horns
If I was building one of these I would probably use MK posts and BB clevis' on the ailerons. It is overkill, but I have put them on a couple of planes and they are high quality stuff that looks really profession. Visually I am not a fan of Sullivan metal horns. It's to bad they stopped using the CF horns; but it was probably a cost or supplier issue because I never seen them anyplace else.

DP Ultimate and Control Horns
The white tail horns came with bolts that fit through the surface and screw into the opposing horn (pull-pull) They send the back plates as extras I guess incase you forgo the set up that it is designed for. The bolts that were included seem to be fine and all the horns once attached work ok so far...
