CMPro T-34

Is anyone putting together (I hestiate to say build) the new CMPro T-34? Trying to get some ideas together since I just ordered one from AK-Models. Thought I might add a couple of pictures from the website. We'll see if it matches up to the H9 .40 T-34

RE: CMPro T-34

I am building the Hanger 9 T34 which is probably the same model under a different supplier. I have built many many ARFs over the years but this one is a challenge. Pretty straight forward in assembly but they use some old technology much different from most ARFs of today. The rudder linkage and elevator linkage is crazy. Anyway I would be very interested in what you think of yours when you start putting it together. I am using a Saito 56 for power. The retracts are good quality but getting the linkage to work was a real challange. Again I have installed retracts in many airplanes and never had the problems as I did with this one. I look forward to your build. Keep us posted on your project.

RE: CMPro T-34

jcw- thanks for reponding. I was thinking that the CMP might be the same, but the CMP is a little larger (not by much). From what I've read and seen on the H9, get rid of the plastic clevis and get a metal one. Also, talking with a friend of mine that has the H9, go with 4-40 rod for the retracts. That's what I plan to do. I'm planning on an OS 70 4S, so we'll see what happens. Just waiting for it to arrive.

Please post a lot of pictures. I like the looks of this Mentor over the H-9, which I have started and need to finish! The price makes this plane very attractive!

Mim- I've downloaded the H9 manual to compare once I get mine in. I'm concerned about the CG location on the CMP (historically, their CGs are off) I know it was on my CMP .50 Zero. The main reason for me buying the CMPro from AK-Models was the price over H9. Please it looked preety good in the pictures, we'll see how it looks out of the box.
Once I get it, I'll start a build thread.

RE: CMPro T-34

Well, I did the whole flap conversion on H-9 T-34, bought some custom air retracts from Century Jet (Dumb Move on my part, as they won't fit), then got a really nice pair of 85 degree retracts from 3DX hobbies and a RCV 58 engine. However, I've lost all interest in this plane, as it's a little small, but I love T-34's. So, someday, it will get done! However, I'm a RC JUNKY and we'll probably buy the CMP one too!

One of the guys at my club (Stallwart) has the yellow H9 .40 T-34. It is a great flying plane. I think the he used Hobbico mechanical retracts (I could be wrong). If I remember he has a Saito .82 with a 3 blade prop. The worst part of his plane was the small wheels that did not like to allow take-offs from wet grass. He corrected that with larger mains. I'm going with the stock retracts first, then may have to start looking for some new ones if those don't work out. I'm planning to drop in a OS .704S with 12X6 2 blasd prop for power. Should be enough. Now I'm looking for good pilot busts (thinking 1/7 to 1/8).
