Yes, I know this isn't the engine forum, but I need maximum exposure.

Has anyone compared the Menz props with the Master Scimitar props; i.e., noticed that one out peformed the other. this is in the 17x8 size large 4-stroke on a IMAC type plane.

Well, I finally got around to comparing the 17x8 Scimitar to the 17x8 Menz.

Visually, the Scimitar is a beautiful prop with it's curved lines.

Performance-wise I was hard pressed to tell the difference between the two on my Saito 1.80 equipped ultimate. They seemed very simular to my limited experience. Same vertical, same pull, I can only hover poorly, but seemed about the same.

If I had to guess I will find that the Menz has a little better downline braking due to the wider profile, but not much.

For me these two props are a tossup.

hummm, good question. I didn't notice a change, but when I get some more Menz's I'll compare them.

the menz has better downline braking
the smitar spool up quick and its slim at the tips not a 3d animal but a good all around flying prop. i ran these props on a OS-160.
the menz loads the motor hard for that pulling power on the 3d stuff :cool:

I've used 3W (Menz clone) and MAS Simitar 20x10 props on my 29% AW Edge. Very close in performance. The one thing I did notice was the 3W was balanced spot on out of the package. The MAS took a little work with a can of polyurethane.

Seem to be. If you call Aircraft International and ask for a Menz prop, Gerhard will tell you that they are very hard to get and recommend a 3W if you are in a hurry. No complaints from me.

The Menz S props come to a point at the tip and the 3W end is more rounded to a squared off tip. Both are excellent props but I believe the 3W is a little quieter and pulls just a little harder, nothing to get excited about.
