Difference between Edge and Extra
Hi Guys
Just want to know what are the differences in flying characteristics of the Edge v Extra. |
RE: Difference between Edge and Extra
Be specific and tell what brands you are comparing. The reason I say this is because Extras from different manufacturers can fly considerably different as well as will Edges so you can see how it will matter.

In my opinion the Edge is more 3d because of the straight wing.....The extra is more stable and IMAC

RE: Difference between Edge and Extra
From my research, the stability of an Extra makes it easier to control, and less prone to stalls than an Edge. Either one is going to be less demanding than a Cap or Giles. A warbird is considered more demanding to fly and less forgiving of pilot error than the sport stunters previously mentioned, if one wishes to compare. Any over-powered pylon racer or other plane built primarily for speed is going to require the most advanced skills and knowledge to fly properly, as they are generally a prelude to turbines. OK, so with my raw data I could probably make up a chart. It would show high-wing trainers as being the most limited yet forgiving, then Cub variants and low-wing trainers. The Extra would be positioned just above them, with the Edge a little higher but below a Cap or Giles.

I was thinking along the lines of:
I LOVE to fly a CAP; too bad I had a wing failure on mine. I can fly the Extra pretty good, it is fun and agile. The Edge for some reason kicks my @#$%. Each one I've had is handful and you have to stay on top of them at all times. Just my .02 |
RE: Difference between Edge and Extra
Hi guys,
Thanks for all the advice. Jezmo the Planes I am considering are made by Seagull. I have progressed from my Seagull Boomerang trainer to a Seagull PC-9 to the Hangar 9 Pulse XT 40. Im am leaning towards the new Edge 540 by Seagull [Black & Yellow ] |
