Keep in mind, that Hangar-9 nearly doubled the price of this ARF in the last year. It's a nice plane, but I can get a 25% Cap 232 ARF from Great Planes that will accept a gas engine for about $50.00 more.

first of all i would like to thank all of you for your comments about the Piper Pawnee.
when i first had contact with the airplane i was impressed by the way the plane was assembled.. but taking a close look i noticed that some thing were out of scale.
- the fuselage had a cuadrangular section and the frameworks had direct contact with the coverage (this is not real), the typical section of pawnee is poliedric section, this is due to a stringer among the fuselage. So i had to remove the coverage and put the stringers at both sides and under the fuselage.
- other modification resides in the junction beteween the fuselage and the fin. if you notice, in all Pipers this junction adopts a triangular shape with its sides smoothly concave. This is due to the coverage. This is very difficult to achieve with this material (monocote) or other film, but it can be done very easily using silk or other material lilke Solartex.
- The stabilizer is located accross the fuselage and atatched to the fuselage with 4 bolts; I eliminated these bolts and filled the gap in the fuselage with balsa and put two bronce tubes (using an antenna from an old radio) in order to introduce the stabilizer with a piece of fiber carbon tube which i previously atatched to the stabilizer. THe stabilizer was also uncovered to do this job. The result was an atatchment between the fuslage and the stabilizer as in the real one. id: (a gap between the stabilizer and the fuselage). As you can apreciate in the first picture.
- another important modification was in the cockpit coverage, that came in one piece and was out of scale (very small). Im planning to do a new one with PET or with resine and fiber. As you can apreciate in the pictures, i did a frame structure for the cockpit as the real one, this was done with carbon fiber tubes and then painted.
- i eliminated the pushrod system for the rudder movement and instead put a pushpull system and a modification of the tail wheel. in this point you can se the opened frame structure like the real one.
- The instrument panel was taken from a picture of a real plane, and all i did was to print it on a sticker and also adding a J`Tec instrument panel pieces.

i dont really have too much time to do this work because im a cardiac surgeon and i used my two week vacations to do most of what you`ve seen. But i have been working on it for a month and a half.
i apreciate all you comments and again i would like to thank you for you visits.;)
i will be posting more pictures as i advance on the construction.

Nice beautiful work on your plane , any one out there have the EP Motor Mount Alum Standoffs 1 7/8" imcluding the bolts for the Hanger 9 40 Size piper pawnee that came with the ARF Kit ? if so please e-mail me & how much you want inc. S&H thanks Carey aka Sea_Planes

Sweet !!!!!!! Always had a soft spot for the "dusters" In central Indiana we get to watch them "work"!! It's VERY impressive to watch !!! I believe the pilots that fly them are a special breed, or have a death wish or something. I've actually seen the fly UNDER the power lines.
