Battery Question

I am new to RC planes and I have bought an Electrafun XP to get started together with a flight simulator. My question is when the battery goes flat (engine doesn't run) will there still be enough residual power to operate the elevator/rudder or will the plane just be dead. The batteries are NiMH 900mha. thanks allan

RE: Battery Question

i cant say for sure on your particualr model, but on most electrics with esc's yes you still have control over the air craft, even after the motor stops

I made a little electric, when I felt the batteries start to lose power I turn for a landing and lost the radio. I was using NiMH batteries, that never happen to me using Ni-Cads. NiMH batteries have a very flat voltage, until they fall off a cliff. I won't use NiMH for anything now, I'm no electric guru though.

RE: Battery Question

I've used the NiMH batteries on electrics as well as Nicds

Of the several I've had the ESC always shuts the motor off before you loose the receiver

If you fly in a quiet place you can tell when the voltage is going even with a NiMH
