US 40 retracts

Hey guys, I bought a used Ultra Sport 40 and the retracts were not hooked up yet and I was wondering what retract servo would work best for the mechanical retracts. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would think just about any dedicated retract servo should work.

What is a dedicated retract servo, and is it ok if the servo travels 180 degrees freely, but won't when hooked up. So basically it has a load on it the whole time the landing gear is down. Is this ok?

A retract servo will move 180 degrees when powered. When it hits each stop it is held mechanically so that it doesn't continue to drain power from you receiver pack. Futaba, Airtronics, JR, Hitec, they all make them.

Thanks!

Thankyou for the info. This is my first time for retracts and I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right.

Just make sure that the servo moves the whole 180 otherwise it could drain the battery. Also make sure that the retracts lock to take the pressure off of the servo when you are flying.
