Help explaining these 3 seagull ARF kits
 

Hello guys...

Well, I bought a "60 size" kit: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SEA4000 to use with my OS91FX.... now I have read that I will be limited with that engine. What a surprise when I check the specs and I can not believe that this plane is bigger/heavier than two "90 sizes of the same company!!!!", please take a look at the specs:

Why did they do that????? I saw it was a 60 size and as such I bought it thinking that it would be smaller than a 90 size and a 90FX would be great for it.... I can not give back the kit and I am stuck with that now... [&o]

I guess I should have read better the specs but I just trusted that "60 size" was smaller than 90 size....

Does anyone has an explanation why the company did this? Why not to list it as an EDGE 90 size?

The specifications show .60 to 1.0 2 stroke. A .61 2 stroke is equivalent to a .91 4 stroke. So it is on the bottom of the suggested range. It will probably make a great Sunday flyer.

I see no problem with how it was advertised.

My OS91FX is 2 strokes... but I wanted that plane to 3d and it seems very hard possible now..... In my local club I saw someone flying the Extra 90 size with an OS91FX and not enough power to 3d. I guess that this edge "60" being bigger will be worse....

I know that "3D" flying is popular, not sure why. The very definition of 3D being outside the normal flight envelope precludes any manufacturer specifying engines and equipment for this type of flying unless that particular aircraft is aimed specifically at the 3D market. The seagull plane is designed for normal flying. 3D is a crap shoot and totally up to the individual.

I reviewed this plane with a Saito 100 4-stroke and it flew 3-D very well, I don't think there will be any problem with a 91 2-stroke.

I've had 2 of those. I put in an Irvine 60 ABC Mk 2 (old!!) that is supposed to deliver 1.8bhp.
The plane would do scale type aerobatics very nicely but wouldn't prop hang.
It isn't really a 3D type aircraft IMHO.
