Best Engine for Aeroworks 35cc Extra 260

I just bought this plane a couple of months ago and am finally getting all of the pieces together to make this a monster! I was wondering what engine (preferably gas) you guys would suggest for this plane? I am wanting it mainly for 3D'ing and precision. The engine range on Aeroworks website says it is designed for 35-45cc gas. Let me know what you think! Thanks for the input.

I have the same plane with a Zenoah 45. The plane flyes very well eventhough the engine is on the heavy side. I went with the ZENOAH because I did not want to go with a an electronic ignition engine and have to run a separate batery.I am not a 3d type flyer . If you are, you may want to go with something bigger such as 55 size engine. My plane has unlimited vertical so for my type of flying is plenty. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of going with a DA 50 but I didn't know if that would be too much for it. I had also considered the Evolution 40cc gasser but was a little worried it wouldn't be enough for 3D. Thanks again. Keep the suggestions coming!

I read a thread on this last night. I am looking for a small gasser as I cant transport a 50CC in my Coupe. I read that a 50CC might be too much for this plane. I dont really understand why if they advise a 45CC.

If anyone actualy has experience with this plane and a 50CC...lets hear it!!!

Thanks!

I have the Aeroworks 35CC Extra 300 , the sister plane, there is a huge thread on these planes in the Giants and Aeroworks forum. I have a Brillelli 46CC in mine, excellent vertical and power. The Brillelli 46CC is what Aeroworks used originally when designing the plane, so a 50CC would not be too much. This is an excellent plane btw, excellent construction and flight performance for IMAC and 3D.

We'll just need to compare the weights then between the Birillelli 46 and the DA 50

Scott Stoops reviewed this plany in RC Flyer magazine a few months back, and used a DA50, I believe. At elevation in Colorado, he liked it just fine.

Would be nice if someone had it and could scan and post it here.

I actually had a Brillelli on order and waited three months for them to finally tell me they were going out of business. I live in Kentucky so elevation is not an issue that is why I am worried the 50cc might be too much. I think the Saito may be a little shy on power for 3d'ing but I will give it a look. So far it looks like the DA 50 is the way to go. Let me know what you decide ro347!

seffer, contact Jodi at valleyviewrc.com and he will help you with that........he really knows everything about engines and combos. IT really depends of what are you looking for........a 35cc airplane it will cost like $1200 or maybe less with good electronics....a 50cc it will cost you about $1500-$2000. I went with 50cc cause all my electronics are overkill....thinking on a 85 or 100cc later.

I know its an old thread, but I am looking at getting the 35cc extra 300 and was wondering how the Valley View 40cc twin would go?
