Receiver pack

Guys i have a noob question

I am looking at getting a pluse xt 40, it is going to be nitro power. What is a recommended receiver pack to power the specktrum RX? do i need to regulate the voltage if i use a 7.4v lipo?

Thanks for your help

RE: Receiver pack

You need to regulate the voltage if you use a lipo

a very good battery pack is the Sanyo Eneloops [ 5 cells ] 6 volts no reg needed. if you want to use a lipo pack go for 2500 mah / 2 cell which is 7.4 volts and abit higher when freshly charged . you will need a regulator for this so have a look at Big Bruce Racing at his regulator at around $20. very light and works great.

Thanks guys, it has cleared my mind. I figured you would need a bec or something for the 11.1v packs but wasnt sure if needed for the 7.4.

freeair those Sanyo Eneloops, is that a nimh pack? how long would you get out of a charge? a couple of tanks...?

I have a Pulse XT 60 with an OS 61 FX and Futaba 7C Fasst system using Futaba 3004 and 3010 analog servos. I am using a 4.8 volt 1000 mah NiCad battery. I have no problem getting 5-6 flights on a single charge with that combination. If you are using a JR/Spectrum 2.4 ghz system go with a 6.0 NiCad or NiMh battery since they seem to be more sensitive to voltage drops.

Heliaction,
I use noname 2000s in my planes.
I easily get 6 to 10 flights per charge.
A lot depends on when in the discharge curve you get nervous.
I usually quit around 4.6 volts.
I've had lots of flights by then and ready to go home.
Theoretically you should be good to 4 volts.
Some quit at 4.8, but there is still lots of power there and
it will remain at that voltage for quite awhile.
These are all loaded readings, I use a 24 ohm load, 200 mah.
Good Luck,

The Eneloops are Nimh low loss batteries

kewl thanks for the reply's. I think i will use a nimh pack. I plan on using the os 55ax so the weight of a 5 or 6 cell pack shouldnt be a problem.

That is correct.
