Morris Balsa Nova 40

got one today cheap from a swap meet/auction. It is brand new and in the box. No manual came with it. It looks like a fairly simple build, but was wondering if any one new where I might get one. I know morris is out of business. The guy that sold me the plane said he would send me the manual. But thought maybe I could find one online somehwere. No luck with that yet. Morris website doesn't exsist anymore.

Give this guy a try, he's had about 5 of them, he may still have the instructions. Great flying plane too!

I flew my Balsa Nova 120 today. It really flies great. Several months ago, I drove to Spring TX and picked it up from Morris Hobbies just as they were shutting down. I'm guessing the 40 size BN flies about like the big one...and if so, you will love it. Hope you have good luck and lots of fun with your plane.

JC

You might try contacting AstroWings of Wisconsin. Club President Steve Tarney [email protected]
One of their members, Kevin had a BN 40 kit and a BN 120.

yeah I think it's going to be a great plane. Pretty sure I can get it together without the manual. but it would sure make it easier. Started tonight. Got the landing gear, wheels and wheel pants on. It's going look super sweet! Will tackle the rest sometime tomorrow. I really like the looks of it. Different, won't see many like it at the field that's for sure.

The ARF 120 has a weak nose in front of the LG, you may want to strengthen it a bit there. I don't remember any problems with the little one. The guy I gave the email of knows he has had lots of both sizes.

ARF. Thanks a million!!! Do you need an address? Or is it elcetronic. There are two small carbboard tubes (white) and one small peace of balsa with two holes in it. I can't figure out where they go . The tubes I figure are for the control rods

I think on my 120 ARF the tubes where guides for the wing bolts though the belly pan.

that makes sense. There is also an 18 inch wooden dowl, with a small rectangle of rubber (in the same bag) I'm sure this is for the main wings, but there is no indication where the wings join together as to where you put the dowl. Looks like a one piece wing to me, once you epoxy them together. Also don't see any indication as to where to route the aileron servo wires to the center of the wing. I found the hinge slots for the aileron, elevator and rudder. My big issue at the moment is where to drill or cut for the 18 inch dowl. I really hope the guy that sold me the plane sends the manual like he said he would. Can't wait to get her flying!! Skyhawk says they have a manual! that would be great!!!

The only dowel in my ARF was for the wing leading edge hold downs. 18"s would make two 9" inchers. Have you put the hold down/alinement dowels in the front of the wing yet?

This dowl is at least a 1/4 inch in diameter, wings came assembled and covered. will look in the AM

I looked again this morning. The dowl must be a cross brace for the wing assembly. but where the wing join together there are no markings of any kind as to where to cut the hole for the cross brace. There is a single dowl for the leading edge. It is attached to a peice of balsa that appears to get epoxied between the wings when you join them together. The is also a strip of fiberglass cloth about an inch wide and probably 20 inches long, It was in that bag with the balsa used for reinforcing the wing mount bolt section. I assume this cloth is applied the to seem once the wings are joined and exopied to give additional strength? Skyhawk are you there?
