Mary from Hobby-Lobby might be a good fit. Otherwise, you might find someone willing to donate a well-used Barbie missing an arm or a leg.

You can order direct from Airborn Models. The first shipment of 50 they received in July were all booked, so they put me on the wait list for the August shipment. They said $550 + $20 shipping. That makes this engine justified for this plane:

Is there an option to mount elevator servos above the wing w/ pull-pull to move CG forward?

Can someone please indicate how many servos are used for:

retract?
flap?
elevator?

Also, will Moki 1.8 be completely enclosed in the cowl mounted sideway?

How would a Graupner 16x8 3-blade look? Will it look too small?

Thanks!

RE: World Models Giant scale Zero! WOW

The Zero is a great looking and flying plane. After making several modifications, it is a very fine plane. Having said that, here are the problems.
1. The plane requires 2 pounds of weight in the nose if you use the OS-160 as the instructions recommend. In fact the plane was built for this engine. Since that is the case, the manufacture should have known it would take 2 pounds to balance and should have taken that into account when building. The plane flies graet with this engine.
2. The retracts are the pits. They are so bad that when turning on a paved surface the planes wing tips will almost touch the ground due to sway in the retracts. I replaced with Robarts air. Decide what retract you will be using before cutting the hole in the top of the wing.
3. The retract hold down plates are poor grade ply and are glued in using hot glue. They must be replaced with aircraft ply and epoxy.
4. The contraption that is supposed to be used on the elevator is unbelievable and was throwen away. Use carbon fibre rods from 2 servos mounted as close to the front as possible.
5. Throw away all hardware except the tank. It is phillips head and metric.
6. The pilot looks like he has been eating persimmons for 6 months. Replace with a Japanese pilot from Hanger 9.
7. The cockpit can be improved by adding leather to the pilot head rest and arm rests.
Be sure and use the groments that come with the canopy or you will be replacing it. How do I know that?
The cowling is installed in a way that other should copy. A great design that helps you align it.
The plane can be bought for less than $500.00 at your LHS.
Hope this helps

I bought my Zero from The Hobby Barn (520) 747-3792 for $409.99 plus $30.00 shipping to the Chicago area. The plane is well worth the money!

Good luck

Keith;)

Wow, that's good price. Is that a special deal? I can't find the GS Zero listed on their website.

how about FUJI 50 for power, will eliminate need for additional weight in nose, also which robart retracts did you install?

The Robarts are standard retracts but have to have longer struts. I believe the struts are 8 inches. Ordered mine thru the LHS and told him the requirements and they fit perfect. They also look a lot better than the originals.

I used Robarts 630 with, I think, 8" struts. Measure yours to be sure but I know the struts are extra long. I think the normal are 6". If they are to long the Robarts can be cut off to fit so no problem.

Hi Keith; Chief Aircraft is now offering the 80" Giant Scale Zero for 529.00.You say you got yours for 409.00 plus 30 for shipping. Is that the same Zero? Thats a 120.00 difference....I'll be calling your dealer for sure if its the same Zero...Steve

Just read the new review of GS Zero in Model airplane news. I was impressed with the quality. I`ve got the WM 60 size Zero and love it. The only problem with most warbird ARFS are they use too small of wheels. How are the GS wheels? Scale size? Has anyone modified the wheel well openings to accept larger more scale wheels? Feedback would be nice.

I replaced the plastic wheelwell insert with 1/64 ply and painted it. I did not change the size of the tires as they big enough.
You will have no problem on grass with the tires. See previous posts on the retracts.

The March 04 MAN mag has a review of this model. if you can call it that. No mention of any balance problems, retracts or anything bad. It is the best thing the reviewer has ever seen. Yea right. It is a good plane but has problems.
