Hangar 9 P-51 PTS
Iv'e seen a lot of peaple bashing the Hangarer 9 mustang PTS. I find this supprising. I learned to fly on the original version several years ago. I found it to be very predictable and smooth. The wing extentions made take offs and landings easy. I did have to remove the air brakes after a few fights since the had a tendancy to rotate causing considerable yaw. Bending the landing rods back helps a great deal to reduce bounce on landings and improves ground handling, a noted problem with tail draggers and this model in particular. Just watch for the nose over once you start to loose ground speed. A common war bird symptom. If your not going to make the flaps functional make sure they are flush with the tailing edge. If they are deployed at all the plane glides a great deal. The flaps are a great help on landing and I highly reccomend their use. This ARF is so easy to assemble compared to most and an average guy can have it ready to fly in a couple half days. My plane is equiped with the e-filte 46 bl, Castle 60 amp ESC and 3 blade 13/8 prop for scale effect. I use a Light Storm 3700 mah 5 cell battery and a seperat flight pack.I cut a hatch on the top for battery access. This is more than enough power even at 7,000 feet hear in Colorado. Been flying this plane now for over 3 years and would reccomend it to anyone with low wing experiance. I did install mechanical retracts recently and found the ground handling much improved. Guess I was bored and needed somthing to do.

The new .40 sized P-51 ARF Sport uses all the PTS parts, but has a wing that can use retracts and I love that plane!

Thanks,
Saw it on H-9 website. Want to do a P-51 in Februray Covering colors. I have extra wing, stab and verticle, just need a fuse so I don't have to scratch build one. Still have my other P-51 and don't want to change it |
