Thunder Tiger Rare Bear
Hi guys.
I have a thunder tiger rare bear,Bought this when it firstt came out,Flies superb, fitted with a O,S 91fx and rare bear muffler.Im having problems trying to set up the retracts.I am using the mechanical retracts as suggested by thunder tiger.with a hitec hs75bb retact servo.I have tried adjusting just about everywhere!!They come down and lock fine,Its just the closing thats a problem.Has anyone had issues with this?? or is it just me:( Any help/info appreciated. Regards OMRA |
RE: Thunder Tiger Rare Bear
Mechanical retracts can be trying at best. It pretty much all comes down to geometry. Having a disc large enough and positioning the linkage rods at the correct distance away from center of the servo is the key so the travel is just right to acomplish full travel up and down. I assume you have a retract servo with 180 degress of travel. Did your instructions have any diagrams? Sometimes you need to bent a dog leg in the wire at the servo end to clear the opposite side wire. I will try to find some pics demonstrating this or maybe someone else will post some.

Thankyou, that would be much appreciated. One thing I have not done is change the servo arm like you suggest. At the moment its a standard arm.I will give that a go shortly
Thankyou. Omra |

Orma. Sorry I don't have a picture to show you but here is a crude drawing that your gear servo setup should look somewhat like. Work with one side at a time and when you have it working to your liking set the other side up the same. If you drill holes in the servo wheel and you don't like the travel just remove the wheel repositon to a different spot and drill a new hole. Like I said before the key here is just geometry, and make double sure your gear has no binding in it through out the travel.

By the way I think that Rare Bear is a beautiful airplane. I have been kicking around getting one of those for a while now. Is yours the gold colored plane. Post a pic if you have one.

Man thats a good looking airplane. I have a new OS120 sitting in the box that I can hear calling for that plane. I only saw that plane advertised here in the states about a year ago. I think I'll start the search to see where I can get one.
