Hobbico Avistar - OS .46 LA Engine Mounting Problem

I have a Hobbico Avistar with the OX .46 LA engine. When I mount the engine I am having a problem with the throttle linkage. When I hook up the pushrod to the throttle on the engine, it sticks. It just doesn't allow the pushrod to push smoothly. The throttle arm from the engine hits the motor mount underneath. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem. Thanks.

You should be able to rotate the throttle arm on the carburator to a new position so that it will not hit.

BENDS

I have a 46fx on my Avistar. To get a clean line to the throttle control arm I had to offset, or bend the push rod after it cleared the firewall. I did this with two 45 degree bends. Also, check that your clevis point of attachment to the control arm on either end is not twisted or binding. Any chance a "tad" of glue got inside the throttle push rod tube? Good Luck!!

Mounting OS 46FX

Buy yourself Sullivan Gold-N-Cable #508 .056" Multistrand cable they come in different lengths, also buy Great Planes 2-56 Threaded Ball Links, you have to do some simple soldering. The instructions comes with it how to install the balls links. This is the best setup that I found with the Avistar, the cable is flexible enough and yet gives you positive response on the Throttle. If you have never done this kind of installation find out what your buddies are doing. But this setup is widely used in most sizes.
I've used the same idea on my Easy Sport 40, and I'm going to use the same on my Waco Bi-plane.
My Avistar is an ARF. Let me know if you need more explanations.

Mounting O.S. 46FX

Forgot to mention, you might also have to reposition and drill a hole through the firewall to raise it just a tad. Make sure that you epoxy or use filler to stop fuel from going through the firewall.

I have an avistar I just finished with an O.S. 46 LA and the only problem I had was I had to put the clevis in the nearest hole to the rotation of the throttle. If you put it to the outside hold it would catch on the motor mount.

I had too much travel with it located in the near hole but I fixed it the lazy/bad way with the radio EPA.
