DP Ultimate Ailerons - 4 or 2 servos?

On the DP Ultimate, I've heard there is an option to go with two servos for the ailerons, instead of four.

What are the pro's and con's of using just two?

From just guessing, having two ailerons would make mixing and servo setup a bit easier. It would also make field setup easier since you would not need to worry about running the upper wing servo wires down the cabane each time you attach the wings.

Cons would be the two servos would need more torque, as they are driving two aileron surfaces. And you would have a non-scale strut conncecting the top and bottom aileron on each side.

Am I missing something? What setup would you recommend?

It seems to me that you have pretty well listed the pros and cons. Another small con for a 4 servo setup is two more servos that might fail... Another small con for the 2 servo setup is the interconnect. It has to be very stiff and vibration resistant...

I think I would go with 4 servos since you can use lesser torque servos. I also like using short control linkages which the interconnect is not. The hassle of running the leads and connectors up the center cabane doesn't seem like a big deal to me... I have a 2 servo GB Ultimate and fitting the interconnects is a pain and you always run the risk of leaving them at home since they are not permanently attached to the airframe. Ask me how I know about leaving items like these and hatches at home... :rolleyes:

I'd go with 4 the setup would be quicker and eaiser and it might just save your plane
about the wires run them from the fuse out the hole and tape the connector to the cabane that way you wont have to run them every time you put it together

KrazyC - was that just a link to your website or is there some specific info on how you installed the aileron servos on your Ultimate? I looked, but all I found were pics (some nice onces too!), links and a guestbook...

I guess I'm leaning towards the four servo setup. What's another 150-200 bucks??? ;)
