Advise on mounting exhaust on GP Space Walker
1 Attachment(s)
Hello All,
I'm trying to finish up my GP Space Walker kit and am ready to start cutting and mounting the cowling. However, it seems that there is not much room to mount the exhaust. The engine is a Saito 1.20 and I'm looking to mount the standard exhaust so that it looks best in the plane. The engine is mounted sideways so that the carburator and exaust are exiting on the left hand side of the fuse as look at the front. Any advice on the best position to mount the exhaust? I have included a couple of pictures to show the exhaust port and it's relation to the firewall etc. It doesn't seem like the exaust has enough bend to clear the firewall and point down. But I've also not seen any other space walkers with a big exhaust exiting out the side. Thanks, Jason. |

I mounted the engine inverted, the head stayed in the cowl that way, and my saito ran fine inverted. The way I did the Muffler was a flexible header pipe, with the muffler on the firewall. Works great. I have no engine parts exiting the cowl.

I also mounted the engine inverted. Used an OS 90 degree header. Worked great . No cuts in the side of the cowl. I did add extra vent holes to the bottom of the cowl.
