Just want to know if anyone has any feedback on the best engine for this plane? I was thinking of putting a Zeona 26cc or a DLE 30 cc...

RE: hanger9 taylorcraft
You can take a look at the thread for this airplane in here, thread is "It's Here and It Looks Great". They're lots of people who have used gas engines on the T'Craft with varying degrees of success, both mounting and flying. Sounds like a PITA to me... For my money the best engine, and what I have on mine, is the OS Max 120AX. It flies just great with it, and the engine is absolutely trouble free. I mounted it in about 15 minutes, hooked up the throttle linkage, another 5 minutes, and flew it. Never even had to touch the needles. W/ 14 oz of lead in the nose and a total weight of 14lbs and 4ozs, it's a floater!

I'm using a Saito 125 in mine that has been nothing but pure pleasure! It's mounted inverted and never a lick of trouble.

Hi,
I just found your thread, how did the maiden go? What engine did you wind up/ finish up using? I'm still using the FG20, it sounds fantastic doing slow flybys, I use a bit of 'crow' in the ailerons at low throttle settings.. |
RE: hanger9 taylorcraft
Hi I went with the asp160 twin, have to say it's a perfect match for the plane and the type of flying I do, I have about 40 flights up on and having a terrible summer didn't help mAtters this year!

RE: hanger9 taylorcraft
Hi I'm put a g23 in mine and would like to know what if anything you did to the opennings in the cowl..I have not fired it up yet but I know that the exit should 3 to 4 times the intake...
Thanks Bruce |
RE: hanger9 taylorcraft
Use the supplied baffles to close off portions of the intakes on either ide of the spinner to reduce intake and direct the airflow over the cylinder. Then cut away the cowl bottom until you get the exit area you want. Worked for me, even tho I've got a different engine.
