Parkzone J3 BL

I bought a Parkzone J3 from Ebay for $80 and love it. I have been using the 27Mhz radio that came with it. I have in my shop a very new 72Mhz Tower Hobbies 4 channel and a buddy box. I tried to put the 72.230Mhz receiver into the J3. I got the servos, esc and batter all connected and it seemed to work. When I ran the motor up, it began to pulse a little and then I noticed the servos were also chattering. I put the 27Mhz back in after that. Do you think I need a newer(better) ESC that won't interfere with the 72Mhz receiver? What else could it be?
Thanks.</p>

Couple things to look at.

Antenna routing on the rx. Is it up against the esc wiring, or servo wires, or metal control rods? Any can cause an interference problem.

If your tx was too close to the rx antenna during the run up it could cause a problem also.

Loose crystal or damaged crystal in the rx

Low battery voltage in the tx.

Lastly if this is the brushed motor version, you could have a bad capacitor or diode on it that's causing interference.

Oh one other thing, if you were doing this around fluorescent lamps, I've seen them cause interference also on 72's.

Here is where I am on this problem....

Had to replace shaft of motor, runs smooth now.
Bought a new ESC, Eflite 10A Pro Brushless.
When I installed the new ESC and 72Mhz receiver and ran the motor with no propeller, servos do not chatter.
When I install the propeller and run the motor, servos chatter at half throttle.
This is a brushless 370 motor stock from Parkzone.

I have tried all the things with antenna placement, gone outdoors away from lights, Tx antenna up. Servos chatter.

With the 27Mhz radio, all works fine with either speed controller.

This is a Tower Hobbies brand TX/RX but it looks identical to Futaba 4 channel radio.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Do you have the Esc plugged into the throttle channel (3) on the reciever, or are you trying to put it in the battery port?

It is in the throttle port and the motor speeds up/down. When the servos chatter, the motor sometimes stutters....

If everything works fine with the 27mhz radio, and everything works fine with the 72mhz until you add the propeller, then it would seem there is a problem with your rx. Do you have another tx/rx you could borrow and try?
