i have gotten really good on my trainer and am bored as hell with it. i have a 46fx engine that i want to use. what would be a good second plane. but this is what i am looking for. when on low rates its not to touch. but has a good roll rated. has good speed and can go verticle. and i want to be able to do great areobatics when on high rates.
now remember it has to fly good with a 46 O.S. fx. on it not too crazy becasue techniqually it is my second plane not counting s.p.a.d.'s and q-hor's

I voted for the T.T. Stick only because I've had 2 of them.
Great fliers but are covered with "shelf paper".
My vote for a second plane is the World T-34 Mentor, an excellent
intro to low wing planes, made for any 46 to 50 size engine and goes together FAST.
Their covered with Ultracoat and cost $129.00 from most mail order stores. Set up your dual rates to 25% and 75% and go from there or use expo.

I've never flown any of those, although I've seen a few sticks and Dazzlers.

My advice is to go get any funfly. Either a Magic or Top Cap are my two favorite planes. I have a Magic with a 46FX and my buddy has the Top Cap with a 50SX.

I would get the Thunder Tiger Sport 40. It flies so well I think it would be just fine as a FIRST plane! In fact, I think it flies better than any trainer I've had (TT Trainer 40 and Avistar). Very docile and easy to control at low speed. Will do some good tricks at high speed and high rates. I sure loved mine (until I planted it cuz of sun glare). Here is a link if you are interested.

How about the H9 ultra stick. Very good flying planes that will let you move up. Slow landing, and you can add flaps, and also play with mixing on this one.

Thank for your imput. right now i think i am leaning toward the hangar 9 ultra stick i have had many suggestions for that. the pole shows different. it show 50% greatplanes super sportster and 50% and goldber tiger 2.

all of the plane you have listed are prolly good flyers, I would however stay away from an ultimate for a second plane. They are good flyers but they are not forgiving enough for a low time pilot. We all had to start somewhere, a 3rd or 4th airplane maybe. If I were to vote on your list I would have to go with the goldgerg tiger 2 as I think they have the highest quality of the list. It would also be a very forgiving plane that will do aerobatics. But I still stand by my recomendation for a H9 ultrastick. If you can get one for 99 bucks thats a great plane for a little cash. And the Ultrastick will be very versatile. They will hover and do some 3-d stuff but will also fly as gently as a trainer. It just depends on where your CG is, what your power setting is at, and how much control throw you have. Great way to move up and into that ultimate! Happy Flying :)

I never met a Kaos I didn't like.
Still, for a second plane the Stick series is a much more forgiving plane and does slow flight better than a Kaos.

Kaos is a perfect 3rd plane IMO.

I have had many of the planes you mention
 

Including the ultra stick (flying it now)
GP Big Stick was my favorite before an unfortunate meeting with another stick.
Tiger 2
Venus (my current pattern contest plane)

I think for a second plane any of the sticks would be great, or the tiger2. Also lets not forget the venerable 4*40

If you use a 11x4 prop on your .46fx any of the planes will have great vertical

My second plane was a Sig 4Star 60 .It was and still is a greatflyer,slows down on landing no nasty habits at all .This plane makes any body look good.

I think UCD 46, or Funtana..... If looking for the value plane.... H9 Pizazz or Ultra Stick 40 (both can be found for $99 or less)

i really really like the UCD 40 but i heard that is more of an expert plane and that a 46fx wont be strong enough. i had a chance to get a funtana for 150 but i passed it up because my 46fx is not strong enought and i heaard you should have high torque servos and i cant afford that. but it sounds like a stick or the tiger 2. what do you guys think about the GP super sportster? thanx for all the imput please keep it coming

I voted for the Super Sportster but my favorites would be:

A. Sig Somethin' Extra- Fits the bill, stable on low rates, crazy on high...

B. Sig 4 Star 40- A hair more stable I guess than the SE but not as much Aerobatic possibilities..

C. Ultrasport-40 If you wanna be on rails this is the deal. (similar to KAOS)

D. Magic/ Magic Extra- Like Hawker says, great plane to go from 2nd plane (cool a roll!) to Unlimited vertical with your 46FX (regular Magic)

E. Sticks are ugly, period>>> .

Go with an H9 Ultra Stick 40. Great 2nd plane. Easy to fly tail dragger. It will give you gobs of experience setting up mixes for flaps and crow. And actually, IMO, a good looking plane.

Nope. I'm sorry to disagree, BUT... sticks are ugly. They fly just as good as anything else though. I guess it's just a matter of taste. I like my plane to look like a plane. Although I must admit, the hangar nine ultra stick 60 looks really cool! I almost bought one but chose not to cuz of the price ($180.00). What can I say? I fly economy! :D

BTW I have a Tower Voyager. I saw it on your list in the poll. I wrote a personal review on it so you might want to check it out. While I do like my Voyager very much (after extensive mods and recover) I would not recommend it because of the quality. The other planes on your list are probably MUCH better aircraft.

Sticks are ugly. Tiger II or GP Easy sport would be sweet.

The Sig SE is also a good choice IF you keep the throws down and add some expo. The ailerons are very sensitive at the recommended low rates.

He has states time and time again he want's it to fly well with a OS 46FX!
Any other plane reccomendation that does not take that into consideration is worthless.

Agree with Mike. And since its in the arf forum he prolly wants to stay with an arf. I think a 4* 40, and some of the others listed, are great planes but this guy may not want to "build" his second plane.

For a model that size I would say a 4 Star 40 or the Ultra stick

My choice is not on your list, although the first reply in this thread also voted for it. I say world models T-34 Mentor. Why do I say this? Prolly the biggest reason is that it will go like a rocketship on a 46. This plane is really light. I am an advanced flyer and recently my buddy got one of these and I helped put it together for him. I currently fly an aeroworks edge and one day at the field, he let me try the little T-34 out. All I can say is wow! This thing is soooo smooth. Feels more like a pattern ship to me anyways. You can slow it to a crawl and it wont drop a wing. It has outstanding vertical on a 46 (not a hoverer mind you, but you can just about do it but the surfaces are too small). It is a great high quality kit that goes together so easily. It also does not look half bad. When we did my buddy's we deviated from the plans a little. I mounted his Thunder Tiger 46 inverted. It came out looking great. Landing this thing is a no brainer. The overall good qualities of this plane are really due to its lightness. I am sure it has a low wing loading. The long and the short of it is that I liked it so much, I bought one too! I put it together and spent a little more time on the linkages (I am really anal with my linkages). I threw out the wire and tubes (they were metric) and substituted gold n rod and Dave Brown fiberglass pushrods. I made sure that the linkage geometry was perfect and now I have slop free smooth linkages for everything (trust me, this is a feat with trike gear models where the rudder has to be connected with the nose wheel). I will use this as my "no fear" plane. I practice my inverted flight with it. It flies great inverted. When I say inverted, I mean I will fly a whole flight completely inverted, the pattern, everything. I will flip it back to normal just before landing. Anyway, I am rambling at this point, but my vote is for the T-34.

Another nice model I forgot that is fun to fly is the Sig Somethin Extra. Its a nice arf, will do pretty much anything you want and still is very easy to fly. I also like the plug in wing design. Makes it very easy to transport
