Stik plane = better flying than Decathalon?
I have not flown for 5 years. When our field closed I was flying a Decathalon 60size as an aerobatic trainer. It flew well but would bounce/crash occasionally on landing, or do wild things on take off.
Now that I know a little more about planes, I'm thinking a 'Stik' plane would be good to get back in to flying. I read they are good in the wind (our field is always windy) and would be at least as acrobatic or more so than the Decathalon. Since it is not a scale plane, I'm suspecting it will be easy to land and take off. Now the question, I have 2 new engines to use so... Big Stik 40 with an OS FS 70 4-stroke or Big Stik 60 with an OS 90FX 2 stroke ??? |

Bigger is always better, go with the 60 size stik, and the 90 size 2 stroke. its a good combination.

You can't go wrong with a Stik. I have had Hanger 9 and GP's. They all fly great. Then build a Four Star 60.

The Decathalon is a model of a great full-size aircraft; though the shape is dictated by the need to fit humans inside and a suitable engine in the cowl. The Stik and its decendants are free of all such "limitations" and Phil Kraft and those that carried on the concept were able to make a simple airframe that flew great in R/C size. Nothing really magical about it (them), just that the design is a happy mix of easy build, ruggedness and great flying characteristics.
If you like inverted maneuvers stick with a Stik. |

Go with the 60 size with 90FX on the Stik, you will have a blast! You can fly iy easy like a trainer or take it all out and just have fun. You won't regret it!
