electric jumps to full throttle

after a short flight the plane was set on the table with the battery still plugged in & transmitter on A few minutes later it jumped to full throttle, flew off the table & hit another table What might have caused this?

You had the battery connected!
Anyway, the safe/fail safe settings, or the TX/RX design or control positions can be a factor.
UNPLUG the battery, unless the model is restrained and pointed in a safe direction!
The three key things after the battery being connected.
TX (control stick position, design, power on, etc)
RX fail safe settings, power applied, etc.
ESC programming, design, input signal, etc.
