Hello all,
I’m new to electric airplane but flown many years of glow plane.
I’m interested to purchase pt-19 sold by hobby lobby
http://www.hobby-lobby.com/pt19.htm
The plane has 38” wingspan, 30” long, 225 sq.in wing area and 21 OZ flying weight,
I’m interested to purchase a motor and ESC for this plane that I can it can also be used by a little larger and heavier plan in future.
Hobby Lobby recommends
21226 AXI 2212/26 Outrunner Brushless Motor and JESAP12W Jeti Advance PLUS 12 Amp Brushless Controller WITH Program .
Since I’m not familiar with these recommendations, I like to know if anyone can give a better suggestion or advice as what other Motor and ESC I can use that can also be a good fit for a larger plane.
Thanks
Borna

Hobby Lobby is usually very very good with their recommendations. Unless you have some reason to doubt, I would go with their suggestion. There are probably a 100 good combos.

I would agree that Hobby Lobby does recommend a decent power system. They do like to push AXI and Jeti. While these systems work fine, there are other possibilities. You could use a Hacker A20-20L (my personal favorite) or a Hacker A20-22L, a Himaxx HC2212-0890 or HC 2216-0990. You could use one of the E-flite motors such as the 350 outrunner. You would be looking for a motor of the same size as the AXI with a Kv of 925-1050 or so.
Any good speed control in the 18-25 amps range will work well. Besides the Jeti you could use the Castle Creations Phoenix 25 or the ThunderBird 18. You could also use the e-flite 20. These are the ESC's I am familiar with, there are others.
