Help with conversions, motor and battery selection
I love helping you guys do conversions or upgrades for your aircraft!
It is helpful to supply this information:
Aircraft:
Type (airplane, sailplane, twin, parkflyer, etc)
Estimated flying weight
wingspan
wingarea
If it's an aircraft, largest prop that can be used for ground clearance
I can give you a motor system recomendation with this info. I will be able to supply the info for the motor, esc, prop, and battery. I will be able to give you estimated, thrust, prop speed and amp draw.
If you are planning to use a certain motor and want to know how it will work. I will need:
Motor
Kv (rpm per volt)
Io (idle Amps)
Resistance (Mohms)
I you don't know or cannot figure what these things are, point me to a website that has the info. If I am familiar or carry the motor, I will already have this info.
With this info I can supply the battery, prop with performance figures as above.
If you want to know if your battery will work in an already existing aircraft of conversion, I will need"
The above info of the aircraft and motor
battery make and when purchased (approx)
capacity
number cells (series,only)
output (8c, 10c, 12c, 15c, 20c 25c, etc)
With this I can give you all performance fugures as above.
If you are not sure what you need, please feel free to start a thread and give me the info you do have. I will then ask questions to help us both figure it out!

RE: Help with conversions, motor and battery selection
Sal, what can I do with this brushless motor?
Designation: 1208425L
Turns: 25
Max Amps: 5.5
Resistence: 0.3160
RPM/V: 5866
IO(A): 0.6
Shaft Size: 1.5mm Diameter / 6mm Length
Weight: 17 grams / 0.60 oz.
Dimensions: 12 mm Diameter x 31mm Long
Prefer some sort of airplane idea.
Also, still waiting on any ideas for my GWS C 47 conversion.
Thanks.
Rick

RE: Help with conversions, motor and battery selection
Even without doing the numbers, I can tell you just from the Kv which is 5866, that you either use if for ducted fan use or put a gearbox on it. This is a very small motor and for airplane use would be best with a geardrive. What would you like to do?

RE: Help with conversions, motor and battery selection
I'm working a scratch T-28 . Wing Span 48", Wing Area 385 sq in
Weight 50 oz, Could handle about a 12 to 14 inch prop, based on estimated ground clearance
I have a FUTABA 6ex-pcm Transmitter and the receiver and servos that came with it
What do you recommend and where can I buy the following:
Motor:
Prop (prefer 3 blades):
ESP:
Battery(Prefer Li-Poly):
Battery Charger:
Thanks for your help
